Bob Feller joined the Cleveland Indians in 1936 as a 17-year-old from Van Meter, Iowa. By the time he retired he had won 266 games and lost almost 4 full seasons at his prime because of his service during World War II. If he had those seasons and averaged about what he was averaging before and then after, his greatness would be known to every baseball fan.
